Shown to the right is one of GM's "better Ideas". This is a terrible design. We offer new 1 piece driveshaft in steel and aluminum. This eliminates the carrier bearing and enclosed 6 ball CV assembly. This driveshaft is over $900 from the dealer. The OE driveshaft is very heavy and overly complicated.

Spicer XL U-Joints. The Best!
We recommend the Spicer XL Universal Joint. All Camaro pricing will include the Spicer XL. This is the best U-Joint we are aware of. It is maintenance free and will never sling grease all over the bottom of your nice car. Typical life cycle is over 100,000 miles and you never have to grease them. we have never seen one that has broken in Hi-Performance applications. Simply the best! All for a few dollars more that the cheap greaseable U-Joints most shops use. Some shops (and auto parts stores) are using really cheap Chinese U-Joints. If you are buying U-Joints at a parts store - check and see if made in China.

We carry over 80 different transmission yokes. Pricing varies so we price your application for exactly what you need. Be aware of cheap Chinese yokes with "CAM" stamped in them. The CAM must stand for cheap ass material because that is exactly what these part are.
Shown below is a typical Performer Series in an un-welded, un-balanced and unpainted form. We custom build to length. Other than the V6 products listed above we build all Camaro and Firebirds as a custom driveshaft. Typical pricing for 3.0 x.083 driveshaft with Spicer XL U-joints is $325-395 + Transmission yoke. The 3.5" inch driveshafts are a little more.

Aluminum Driveshafts
Performer Aluminum Driveshafts are becoming quite popular. They offer nice weight reduction benefits while retaining a high level of strength. Note: Aluminum Driveshafts are not stronger than steel, as some magazine articles are indicating. Actually this same article used the term transmission "yolk" which is a component of an egg. Not a driveshaft part. We usually suggest going 1 size up on diameter from a steel shaft if the car is fairly high horsepower. A 3.0" steel shaft would go to a 3.5" aluminum. In most cases there is no fitment issue with the larger tube. From the centerline of the driveshaft a 3.5" is only 1/4 inch bigger than a 3.0" and there is usually no clearance issue with a 1/4 inch increase.
Pricing on average for 3.0" and 3.5" Performer Aluminum Driveshafts are in the $450 to $465 range (not including trans yoke) but includes the Spicer XL U-Joints.
